History
I was born in India and led the life of a foreign service brat until I went to college. I've always been fascinated with and inspired by different cultures, ethnicities, and customs. I dabbled quite a bit in anthropology and sociology in college, keeping arts and crafts as a hobby that I pursued in my spare time.

Almost all aspects of art are appealing to me, from painting to pottery, stationary, stickers, jewelry, graphic design, etc. If there's creativity involved, I want in!

My first several jobs after college were as a graphic designer, so I do all of the Gilded Moon Jewelry print & web work in addition to making the jewelry. This web site, my business cards, earring and necklace hang tags, post cards, special event flyers - you name it, I designed it, printed it, cut it out, etc.

Workspace
My workshop is in my home and pretty small, so I have to be organized. There are lots of little containers for all of my beads, chain, wires, findings and tools, and every now and then they overflow. The worst time is right after a shopping spree - then everything overflows onto separate tables and it's quite an undertaking to get everything sorted into something that resembles sanity.

Logo
My first logo was hand-drawn by my sister-in-law and sent to me as a birthday gift. I liked it so much that I incorporated it into my branding right away. The "Om" symbol was integrated into the design, and for some reason I can't quite put into words it really resonated with me.
I'm often asked what it means, and the shortest definition I've been able to find is "Om is the whole universe coalesced into a single sound and represents the union of mind, body, and spirit."

I redesigned the look & feel of the logo in late 2010, keeping the same elements but cleaning them up into sharper lines and contours.

Photography
All of the photography for my pieces is done by me/at home, as you can probably tell from some of the worse images :\ Jewelry photography is no piece of cake! I've gotten better at it over time but can't manage to get get it perfect on a consistent basis. As for older items (the worst of my photos,) I can't redo them because they're sold. Lately I don't have time to do photo shoots at all, so I just snap a few photos on the table before I pack things up for a show. You can see some of those on my blog (gildedmoon.wordpress.com.)

So... there you have it. Thanks for visiting and please feel free to send me a note with your thoughts and comments - I love to hear from customers! Appreciation photos are the best - I haven't received any yet ;)
